We go from the hood to affrica to sex then argue with each other
All in the same dam thread

Yet man what about whats going on

Hell to be honest maybe some people need something to do

Hello Family,

I've noticed a "rash" of sexually oriented topics / discussions in both the Sisters and the Brother's forums. While i've not looked recently, i'd imagine that it is in the Relationships forum as well.

Is there a such thing as too much sex talk from grown folk?

I mean, i could understand if we were finding these discussions in the Teen Forum, as they probably have less experience and more questions regarding this topic ... they might be seeking advice, wisdom, direction, and guidance ... but ... it's happening in the "grown folk forum" :eeek: ???!!!

What comes to mind is the menstruation thread, and how it was asked, do you engage in sexual intercourse during this time, and if not, why?!!! :puke: I mean, gosh, are all topics worthy of open discussion in public, decent, places?!!! Is there nothing sacred and private?!! This is just one, i'm not "picking" on it persay, just providing an example.

If the "adults" are talking this way, choosing so many of these as topics of discussion, what example are we providing for the youth watching us?

I've been called ... hmmmm ... what did you call me Brother James?! ... i can't remember ... some word that implies chastity (or worse)! :) Well, i was called that! So, maybe it's just me. I've gotten older, more mature, and perhaps lost touch with the world and all the kinkiest of things that can be done ... ?! ... maybe ...

But for real, it does concern me that as i browse the Sisters and Brother's forum, far too many of the more recent threads are about sex ... when we have so many issues facing us and our communities, that have absolutely nothing to do with sex ... it's just not how i envisioned those forums.

Is it just me or are we having a whole bunch of sexual discussions up in here? Are they all necessary, or should some of that be discussed privately (with whomever you please)? Do we want to consider the youth in this community and the message that we are sending them? Are we sending the wrong message, or am i just ... aahhhhh ... that's the word Brother James called me ... a prude! ... am i just a prude?!!!!

Please vote in the poll above ... i want to know if i'm alone on this or if something needs to be done!

Thanks a Bunch!

Adults should be able to discuss whatever adults want. It is our ASSumption that adults should know all they need to. We should not be so arrogant, prudish or whatever to think we all have the same sexual knowledge and tastes. Many of the discussions may be as simple as advice on trying something new. Some may just be preverts

But adults arent suppose to have restrictions, so to speak.

I find this statement a little disturbing, because if the adults can’t intelligently talk about sex or maturely handle their sexuality than how can we expect teenagers to deal with it or learn from adults. The ideal that teens can talk about sex and adults can’t is sort of backwards.

One of the problems with American society is that it has always been too puritanical…usually pornography and sexual deviation goes wild (secretly and discretely) in societies that can’t deal with their sexuality. There is a book called “Reefer Madness” that sort of deals with the moral contradictions and hypocrisy found in America's
prudish and very puritanical society.

We need to find a way to be comfortable with our sexuality, so the teens don’t think that sex is done in some sort of strange vortex where there are no rules or cultural ideas.

The messages they receive about sex through Rap lyrics and videos, make almost anything said at Destee.com seem like child’s play.

I wasn’t that crazy about the thread that dealt with menstruation, but I don’t want the discussion of that subject to counteract a free and mature platform were adults can openly opine and not feel the constraints of hypocrisy.

Compared to other cultures, Americans have of the biggest sexual hang-ups in the world, but at the same time supports a billion dollars in sexual consumption, from pornography to sexual devices, and now women, are making up a large portion of these consumers.

We need to help our youth demystify sex and take there eyes off their Rap mentors and be very honest with them, about our own proclivities.

Sex is not dirty or evil. It is sacred. And if sacred things can’t be discussed or enjoyed freely among adults, then what’s left. Yatzee?

Peace and Love,

Brother Sun

   I totally agree Brotha Sun... LMAO @ yatzee... you are too funny....

Well, I think a forum dedicated to just sexuality wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think there is a need for honest and open discussion on sex. There are teens here but it's better for them to learn about that here than on a porn site. At least here people are able to tell it like it is in REAL life; if teens read they will see that sex brings about as many consequences as it does pleasure.

And whether society likes it or not, most teens are sexual beings, even young ones. They will continue to have sexual crushes, sexual desires, curiosity, etc. whether they are restricted or not. Of the places where they can learn about that aspect of life, this is probably the best.

However, too many sex discussions in an area not central for that could take away focus from other types of discussions which are just as important.
