Black Relationships : Is moving in together the sign of a serious commitment

I moved in with my ex-husband before we were married. We lived together for 1.5 years and our marriage lasted for 1.5 years. Was it a sign of a serious relationship? At the time, yes, we were already making plans to "permenately commit." (We divorced for other reasons.) However, I would have to say that moving in with someone is not a true sign of a serious relationship. Two people have to be in a mindset that "we're in this together" not "tonight we're sleeping together." Relationships are supposed to be based on honesty, loyalty, trust amongst other things, not whether or not y'all split the bills, or she can't cook, or he never puts the toliet seat down..... "Practicing" for marriage is pretty impracticle (sp?), IMHO.
