Black Poetry : revisiting the past

the mountains take stock
as i tiptoe over turquoise rocks
holding the tail of my gown
blessings like tears rain down
as i skip through a stream
your love’s geyser gushing hot steam
heart open calling out your name
echoing throughout the open plain
falcons and eagles that roam the sky
seated beside the Ancestors On High
our beauty the envy of the world
you my boy and i your girl

stained with berry juice my plush lips race
to taste the sun on your face
the horizon cooling in your eyes
full of butterflies and dragonflies
viewing you at the peak of my desire
your smile radiant as the color of fire
sweaty nestled in a thicket of thistles
begin to kiss as a westward wind whistles
drums language being spoken in the distance
discussing different bodies of water resilience

let my faith in you be that of birds
with no taste in my mouth for vile words
blessed be the stars and moon’s light
strung across the Namib desert night
emotions breaching their boarder
as i trudge thru hot sand to reach your salty water
to gently smooth your waves with a goddess caress
and sooth your concern about getting into this mess

frothy waves rush ashore thick
after i carve our names in the sand with a stick
sending them sailing passed the coral reef
eternally bound to rest on the seabed’s relief
connection undisturbed by the tides changing
or the way close vessels rudders are blading
forever able to capture the brilliant sight
of a lavender and pink sky’s night
