Black People : Michael Eric Dyson: To The Young & Disillusioned Who Didn't Vote in 2010

I'm thinking about writing a book entitled, "Radical Tomism" it's about dudes
like Dyson with his fitted cap and his soundtrack playing in the background.
This dude is probably looking in the mirror as he talks. He doesn't have the
slightest clue about what young black people are concerned about but his
position as a street-conscious black intellectual demands that he appears to be
connected to them. That whole spiel about folks dying so we could vote is wrong
on so many levels.. how many ways can you bend that same bible metaphor?
they died so we could have the chance to vote.. no.. they were murdered by
white racists.

Ummmm voting in itself is disillusionment, and delusion. How about lecturing the youth on that one Dyson?
So you think that Charles Barron, Dick Gregory,
Cynthia McKenney,
Malcolm X, Fannie Lou Hamer, Bobby Seale, Alton Maddox
and Kwame Ture'
were/are fools?

is that what you are saying?

these folks who not just encouraged us to vote but gave us strategies,
of voting and democracy, we were too self centered to use?

that is kinda like the young dude with a week game who gives up on women beucase he gets rejected, his first time on approaching a woman

instead of learning how to tighten up his game.

Folks who think voting is stupid for the African community to gain and maintain progress should be prepared for a mature debate on the subject!

Yeah, that particular kind of diatribe has been a ''stone in my shoe'',
for sometime. Though I dig dyson (don't always agree with him), it seems
to only come up when it's time to vote. What about taking control of the
markets in our communities? The schools? Becoming makers/sellers of
things and not just consumers? These realities can manifest itself and
progress in political means over and above mere voting.

No such thing as permanent allies, only permanent interest. But we
have to develope financial resources and see to it that those whom
we put in office know who's buttering their bread.

The powers that be "groom" potential candidates, no matter if they are dem
or repub, and offer them as the only options we have. A stacked deck,
pretty much. So no matter what, "the house" wins. Like it or not, this is the
game. If we wanna "win", better know how it is truly plaid. Folks sacrificed and
died trying to inform us of that reality as well. When do we (dyson et al)
exclaim to that extent?

i was in C.O.R.E

i spent my youth registering black people so they could vote. sometimes at some small risk to my person.
not once then did i ever imagine i would hear some of this nihilistic garbage come out of the mouths of young black people.
maybe if you have never risked anything you have a different attitude.

i see that when we won the physical battle, the system of white supremacy went to the mental war.
young black people have been brainwashed into submission.

we now have a generation that thinks all the things that are self destructive are cool and those things that will build black people are not cool.

darn skippy,

i dont' know or understnd either

some say Malcolm's plan for us is no good and some old foggy stuff

and they say the NGuzo Saba is outdated,

and that black natioanlism will never happen

and while the oligarchy is destroying the community nationaly we say regionalism East Coast/ West Coast is the ideal, and any attempt for national black unity for anything is a no

and voting is no good and

no to this solution

and no to that

without creating any solution at all!

Hey I thought the doggone GOP was the party of No?

while we sit here and make a party out of it while the community steadily burns, I dont understand it?
