Black People : Cornel West responds to Michael Eric Dyson

And Note:

I am not a big fan of cornell west. Many don't recall,
that long before the internet age, west was opposed
quite so, to a kind of pan-afrikan/pro black afrikan
centered ideology/philosophy more or less that say,
dr. john henrik clarke was advocating.

He got somewhat of a wake-up call with, if I recall, cornell
university. ...Somewhat. Though I still have, some of his,
wests, works on my shelf.

It can be challenging, but sometimes we have to look at
folks in the many shades between black and white. I struggle
sometimes with it myself. Thought sometimes, there are cats
whom I feel a certain way about and will likely never change.
Sometimes it just gotta be like that.

This is my point Enki,

Argue the points. Whatever west's flaws are, put an argument
against his points. I don't always agree with dyson, but when folks
tried to go in on dyson, particularly as it pertained to cosby and the
debate he had with stephen a. smith. No one..... To This Date....,
could and or would refute his points/claims. And were Obama is
concerned, that is what it is for me. On the other thread when you
laced a few things that obama did, I laughed because for I could've
licked off the top of the head a half dozen policies that warrant
criticism.

It's like reading you on religious subjects and how you make solid
points when it comes to biblical verses and religious thought/concepts,
oft times, many of your 'opponents', attempt to dig at you and hardly -many
of the times, deal with the points you've laid out. You know that isn't
the way a debate should go. 'Don't attack Enki, attack his points/premise'.

So I'll put it to you like I put it to those, regarding dyson on cosby/a. smith:
Where is west wrong about obama? What did he say that was wrong as it relates
to policies. Quote him, so that we may examine what he said regarding pres. obama.

I recall west being quite consistent with the premise of holding the president
accountible. Dyson started out that way, then switched up. Now, everyone has
a right to change their mind, but given how all of a sudden he did a 180 turn, is
certainly room for question, to say the least.

While I will appreciate dyson dealing with tyson and a. smith; I'll give him props
for that. He has failed to show where west was wrong. 10k words of what in the way of
obama's detractors with regard to his policies? I posted somewhere where
dyson was going at it with glen ford, and failed to dispute the points ford was making.
:bowdown::bowdown:

I'll be the first to say that I haven't agreed with many of the things Obama has done, but to tear a person down for something you are doing also is foul.
How can you say you love somebody, but then say that you don't like that same person, and anybody that is a fan of him?:11200:

Peace!

I totally agree. And as you said in you previous post, attack his arguments, and IMO he does have valid complaints. But I get the feeling that Obama is suppose to solve every problem the black race has. They also forget, Congress has opposed him on everything from the get, so what is he to do. West, and others called Clinton the first black president, eventhough many of the unfair drug laws were passed by him. Obama over turned them, but they tear him down and say that he's not black....SMH

Peace!

Okay, this is where I may be losing you:
Tearing who down for doing the same..., what?
I think you tried to explained that in a previous
post and I may not quite get it.

So what exactly is the 'same doing', you are
referring to?

As far as loving vs. liking or disliking someone:

Does 'love' and 'like' mean the same thing to you?
If not, then I don't see what the issue is...

What has west asked the pres. obama
do for black people?

And who said anything about obama 'solving
every problem' for black folks? As far as I am
concern if he would've done half the stuff he'd
say he would do...for america..., much of that
would've helped black folk.

As for congress..., please. He had both the house
and senate and did not take advantage of it. If he's
worried about what folks would think of him, well
see how folks feel about him now.

West called clinton the first black pres. This is why
you take issue with west? Really? WE can settle that
right now: West and any black person that called
clinton the first black pres. is wrong. Horribly wrong.
I did not play that. I never called a non-black person
black, no matter how 'cool' they are or perceive to be
am I am not alone. Not all black folk played that game.
The problem was that there was no press around to
her the black folk reject that notion....
