any one here ever heard of the patriarchal Nation of Islam?I don't see it happening either without a major paradigm shift. Both the Bible and the Quran contain passages that support, condone and even prescribe racism and sexism.
The mainstream Black church takes its lead from the mainstream white denominations. In the present anti Islam climate they cannot unite with NOI without a major break from the white churches. And that cannot happen without major backlash. There will also be a division within the Black church as members who do not accept Black nationalism balk.
The Bible is not an obstacle to the establishment of an NOC since Christians have always found a way to circumvent what it commands. The obstacle is these two warring philosophies, racism and sexism vs. freedom and equality. Right now there are women and men in the church who are moving toward sexual equality but in the face of mounting controversy I think many of them will retreat to the comfort zones of the Biblical support for women's oppression.
The patriarch fears matriarchy yet who can imagine a world with neither patriarch or matriarchy. Prolly many folks think of such a world as anarchy.
Dr Francis cress Wesling stated we talk about a problem and talk about a problem and discuss a problem and then analyze the problem
and just before we get to a solution,
we are back to talking about the problem again
There was a problem regading matriarchal homes in the Black community after integration and the patriarchy of the NOI gave a firm foundation to increase the responsiblity of the Father as not just a good provider, not seeking public assistance but also a good father to his children and a good friend and lover to protector to his wife
