Black Education / Schools : Can black English help black children learn better? One educator believes so

...Your link also points back to that 1997 MAAT paper that I have already pointed out does not have any quantifiable data in it. Well I have made my point and I will end it here, unless you have some real quantifiable information supporting your position.

Well, we've finally come full circle in this circular conversation. I just hope you are a man of your word, all else is irrelevant. Both sources, as well as my input, are proposals only, smh ...

... Back to Ebonics and the seriousness of recognizing Ebonics as a language, so that English (and its considered broken english-according to the British) could be taught as a second language.

... Since many African Americans do not speak standard English, "it is more than reasonable to suggest that in order to effectively and sussessfully teach the culturally and linguistically different Black child in the urban school the English language, the logical place to begin is with the cultural and linguistic experiences of the Black child. Now, you ...

Of course ELL does not apply to African American students ... Looking for some gimmick to solve the problem of low academic achievements of some of our children is not the path we need to go. We have well tested methods to resolve the problem, which starts with the parents being their children's biggest academic advocates. The parents making sure their children are focused on learning, doing their assignments, and not disrupting class.

Returning back to the original post does not add any quantifiable information into the discussion. Them being proposals do not exempt them from the request for quantifiable evidence that those proposals may be successful. Also the Suspension rates are a different problem outside of the purview of the original Ebonics discussion.
