Black People : Bill passed gives, Puerto Rican citizens , right to vote for statehood/ independence

And look where that got Cuba... kicked off the doll and still fawning over all things American. I think they want back.

I'on care. I can take it or leave it. But I still think we should adopt Jamaica or Haiti. Will never happen, but I'm just sayin. :qqb017:

I feel Cuba is in a slightly better place, then it was before the revolution (1959). and it controls it’s cultural legacy. P.R. I would think could benefit even more if it were to go independent. It would be very hard at first, but it would at lease not loose it’s cultural identity, the way it’s loosing it now.

I have personally been to Cuba, and not in some walled off tourist section, but illegally stayed with a family to get a feel for the real Cuba. It's messed up. Nobody wants to live like that. But we can't condemn the model that Fidel tried to put in place, because it was never given a chance. The embargo and other things empoverished the island. Actually, before the embargo the economy was taking off, but who knows. i think corruption is hard to defeat, and a socialism of the Cuban type must be clean or it won't work. But you gotta marvel at the experiment and what was accomplished against all odds. A world view that is not based on consumerism is a beautiful thing. I met old folks who said even though things were tough, no one was dying of hunger like before. so that means something. I met people who had little to nothing in consumer goods but were truly happy. They had different measurements. so that was weird. many cubans think they would like under U.S. domination, cuz they watch t.v., but they would be in for a rude awakening. Cubans are not fawning over all things american. that's crap. as a matter of fact, most of the people would ask me about things they heard about americans which they found to be insane. for instance, many asked me, "is it true that you guys put your grandparents in old people homes?"
"is it true that your children go to far away places to attend college?"
"is it true that you have homeless people?"
"is it true that if you don't have money, you can't go to the doctor?"
"is it true that the police will make you turn down your music?"

I have not been to Cuba, but from what I have heard and seen in videos. They are poor, but the people seem happy as they can be themselves.
Not be so preoccupied with so many of the things that plague us every day. In many ways I’ve envied them, I may be romanticising them a bit, But I remember when our own culture was a lot more like theirs. We have become way too petty in the last 50 years.

Oh man, you ain't kidding. I remember when I was a kid, how beautiful the people were. How happy and neighborly, like one big family. Nobody went hungry, music was the pastime. Now our island is a mess. Consumerism is God. no more street music, cooking and dancing. now all you have is corrupt cops and murderous criminals, fake religion and plastic nationalism. it is sad, and yes, we should be jealous of the Cubans. But the Cuban thing will be over soon, as they will be bamboozld by consumer culture and end up just like Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. While the white elites and their american masters get rich.
