steve69, perhaps you missed the point. This thread is suppose to be about more doom and gloom. No one here wants any positive news, because it conflicts with their views on what the white man has done to us poor little black folk.
No! We are not getting a black President. The United States will be getting it's first black President, and he will not be elected to be the President of black people only. But I think the negative tone about this, from certain people here, is just indicative of why we can't get any where. Even when we achieve status in high positions, there are those whose only practice in life is to pull us down into the fire with them, and to ridicule those who succeed.
These kinds of negative views should be kept away from our children, because it will only justify to them reasons to continue to fail, gangbang, sell drugs, drop out of school etc. And when you ask them why, they have a ready made answer, "because the white man won't let me succeed".
Sorry destee, but your article stinks, and the American Dream is alive and well for everyone who wishes to participate. But in order to participate you must first prepare for it, and that requires hard work.

We seem to waste our time on the wrong things. It would be like us building houses with no windows or just holes in the walls and then complaining about our heating bills are unfairly high because of our race. And if we complain loud enough and make enough noise other people will not notice the holes in the walls. We of course would also wear earplugs so if they did say something we could more easily ignore it.
But if we could not ignore it we would insist we still be allowed to build houses our way and somebody else figure out a way to solve our problem so we don’t have to do any real work.
We spent a lot of years fighting to end Apartheid in South Africa and ignoring other problems. Since the end of Apartheid in South Africa they now have a much higher crime rate and income for blacks has actually Decreased there.
