Black People Politics : we will NOT mount an effective boycott because we are not organized….

not like now!
Lets be honest, all James is saying is that it will be more difficult to do it now then before 1988. Not impossible, or that we should not do it, just that it would have been easier back then!
There is much that is different now in every major Black community in the nation as far as organizing Black associations PTA, group advocacy, community watch, and food pantries.
Since the 90s no real national grassroots movement, leadership or national organizations have been formed by the youth, as have been in every young generation for 100 years from 1888 to 1988.

Even Alton Maddox stated that in the 80s there was a different mindset of activism that is different now, as he explained to educator Basir Mchawi, on Education on the Crossroads, as one of the reasons why, the Zimmerman case , did not have the political grassroots input or advocacy to make sure there was no foolishness going on!

Alton Maddox is great. Though 'mindset' is developed; i.e. a seed can become any tree. However only the right nourishment will produce a great tree.

Today we are bombarded by 'undernourishment' or the wrong nourishment, but realistically we always were. It's different from Segregation. Certainly. White man no longer makes us cross the road when he's on the sidewalk. White man no longer walks into a Black man's house to rape his wife. White man no longer drives a tank through the streets cursing at Black men. Least as far as I know. But in a situation of Oppression, we should expect the wrong mindset and go from there; not dwell on dates and long for 'good ole days.'

I heard Angela Davis report how on campuses the BPP had to talk to the same people often 30 times before they would come to meeting. It's never really been easy, but in Africa--in some cultures.

this tragedy could be an opportunity to get some people to wake up and see what needs to be done.
Honor the boycott and inform others. That is one step forward.
