Sometimes letting go of a bad thing,
is harder than trying to hold on to a good thing.
I have taken this story of ours and
twisted it this way and that, trying to make sense of it all.
and still my heart is confused
I’ve made numerous excuses
to myself trying to explain away
the hurt, the anger and the pain.
and still my soul is bitter
I have tried to see things from your perspective
but all I can feel is the heartbreak, the tears the un-describable pain.
and still my spirit is dazed
I don’t understand
I can’t quite make it out, you see I loved you.
I truly thought there was some redeeming quality that my unconditional love could bring out in us.
But I have come to the realization that “We” was wrong
“We” were never meant to be
and because we defied fate and manifested another’s destiny
the world is not quite right.
I feel shifted
off-centered
somehow incomplete.
My colors are not my TRUE colors.
and still my heart is broken
stunned
a casualty of this relationship
an innocent by-stander in the war we created called “Relationship”.
The crazy thing is: I look into your eyes
even now ; and see the same dazed, confused look.
You know no better than I, how to fix us.
Something that has been broken for so long, that even after being put to rights still looks and feels broken.
and still “Us” is no more.
