Black People Politics : Occupy Wallstreet Movement and Black People!?

I must admit not knowing or understanding what your take on our peoples intelligence etc. is based on...

Obama might get a second term: And what will he do for us if we vote for him again?

He is quicker to chide us for even the mildest criticisms we direct his way, than he dares to do in public, via any critic of his policies/practices, ala his so called voting base, i. e., hispanics, etc.

So just what does it mean to him to be an african american in the first place?

It may be obvious to others: After him being in the job for 4 years, even I can't claim or say I know for sure!

SMH...

What does occupy wall street have to do with the so called Black folks ? The last time I check the Negros here are descendants of slaves and have been robbed of everything they had and created. This is white folks business, it has nothing to do with Negros.

In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......Brothers, its apparent you both have serious aberration in your views concerning the President and the Occupy Movement that neither myself nor anyone else supporting Mr. Obama or the Occupy Movement can change. I digress respectfully.

Peace In,

I have to respectfully disagree with the standpoint that the Occupy movement has nothing to do with us and that it is "white folks business". Having marched with and alongside occupiers during the October and November mobilizations, the OWS movement is about empowering all of us working class and underclass into a movement for economic and social justice. This movement is independent from Obama and the White House. I have marched with university faculty and staff, high school and college student organizations, grassroots organizations such as Good Jobs LA, whose leadership is largely Black and Latina women, socialist organizers, a wide collection of activists including some of my Facebook friends. The strategy of OWS is similar from the south African divestment movement of the 80s. The difference is that is ultradocratic and lacks centralized leadership structure which is a great idea but flawed in praxis against an organized enemy. I get it that some will tend to dismiss this movement for numerous reasons but doing so on the basis it has nothing to do with black people is inherently flawed. It has everything to do with addressing most of the economic issues at the root of black poverty and political disenfranchisement in America and that is capitalist exploitation, disparity of wealth, and cultural hegemony which represses black economic development and mobility within and outside of the economic and political matrix. It is also about utilizing the power is social media and networking to develop networking solutions.

As soon as spring breaks them white people gonna be at it again. However, I do not see the need for any lack people to be involved in that...as if we have some control over the economics or wallstreet! Furthermore, with the new law that Obama signed, I'm not sure that any black person wants to be on the terrorist list being that Wallstreet is directly tied to the white house.

The posters in general don't operate on the basis of a agreed upon consensus...

I merely ask that you respect other folks right to air opnions you may not agree with, support who they choose, on the mutual respect side..
