I have noticed that the Occupy Wallstreet Movement focuses on protesting issues that effect Black People the most. How come more Black People aren't active in the Movement?
    Opinions wanted!

    In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......First, welcome to Destee.com, bridgebuilder, good having you on board. We've had some dialog on the issue of Blacks not being visibly involved with OWS (occupy wall street) to the extent its noticeable. I'll post that conversation here for you to review, but in the meantime, here's a thread I started which speaks to professors telling young Black students about generational apathy:

Also, I'll post to the thread enabling you to find it, since you are new here.

    Peace In,

Well, here where i live, there haven't been a huge amount of blacks participating.

Prolly, due to the fact, they have to work, go to school or stay home to take care of thier family.

The police have been trying to break up this movement because of the past due curfew hours which some of the protestors are taking advantage to rob some of the nearby business, and complaints that they (protestors) are dirtying up the lawns and making the city look bad.

It could be lots of reasons why the shortages of blacks here haven't participated but it doesn't mean that they are against it.

    In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......Very well said MsVeraisblessed, indeed. As elder jamesfrmphilly mentions, we are there, just not in large noticeable numbers.

Because it isnt really an organized movement. And that is its problem. I was going to NY to protest one day or two. Then it was over. Sort of.

If the Occupy movement doesnt seek to form a political agenda as well as an economic one they wont change anything
