Black Poetry : INTERRACIAL

Miss Lady said:
Black people, why can't I date the boy next door?

Is it because my people say he is the enemy.

And if I date him I am their sistah no more.

And why was my brother mad at me when we were eating supper?

Is it because I told him I'm down for my friend like he is a "brotha".

Don't my people know that he has eyes and hands and feet.

He even likes the same type of soul food that I eat.

He can laugh, he can cry and when we talk he doesn't lie.

But my people won't accept him.. why, tell me why?

My people say it's because he's different from us.

Well, I guess I'm different too...

Because that boy next store loves all of the same things I do!

There's no way I'll sleep with the enemy,
just check your history, it's plain to see.
They piss in our face, even to this day,
so with them I could never lay.
See if he'll take you home to mama,
and see don't it be a lot of drama.
Burn ya house down with your cross,
to prove to you, that they the boss!

Up in smoke.. up in smoke... the devil is white
our brothers' in the hood sell the devil every nite

my sistah .. my sistah.. you know what I c
In the hood we are our own worst enemy

the otha man nah he never piss in my face ...they ain't that bold
they still doin in from behind.. white sheets since days of old

I am a black woman ..... i know who I am
so whoever I choose is gon respect it... It's what I demand...

all and all I know it sound wack.....
but all my "white friends".. I just pretend they black!

Well well well

Personnaly,i have nothing against white people,we are surrounded by them and i don't feel like spiting on them every time i see one.
Because of the fact that a man is a man,i can't stop myself thinking that what they did to our ancestors can be done nowadays in another form.
When there is a problem, man need to know that he has his "own",black men can be considered as one family, white as another, though we are trying to change that rule.My wish is that one day we will be equal, just like real brothers. But now,i am sorry, whites are just...whites.I can't stand a relationship with one without being VERY careful

I totally agree sister.
Much Love and this is an awesome poem

Miss Lady, each poem you wrote built on the emotions of the first. I appreciated Platinum's poetic replies as well. Others may not agree with our life choices, but they remain our choices to make.
