Doing what I do

That’s what my uncle told me

And I am happy to be writing

Writing in the handwriting of my father

Yet I would gladly trade this all in for

Time with the man who made me who I am

Didn’t have many years with him

But the time I did have were filled with love and joy

Watching over his shoulder and he and Bishop would do their thing

Never quite knew what Extreme was until I got older

You know that’s one of the secrets they kept from me

But later when I came of age and I was allowed to read many of his writings

I knew then

That I had to keep the flow alive

My dad

Was awesome

Never disappointed me

Even when his answer was no

I love him

Wish I could tell him that again

Even during those sad days

When sickness overcame him

He somehow gathered enough strength

To go outside and play ball with me

As if nothing was wrong

I guess I knew he didn’t have long

When he told me to come into his room

And let’s talk

Told me

That I had to be strong

Be a man

Yet have the childhood that I deserved

Told me that I would be surrounded with love

My life would never be without

Watcher would be watching me

He had seen to that

My uncle took my mom and I in

He raised me

Became my father

Gave me the best

But I still miss my dad

This is a beautiful tribute to your Dad. I cried as I read it because like you, I miss my Dad too. I'm honored to have been given the privilege of meeting your Dad through your eyes!

Thank you.
