the near north
the clouds were gray
there was a chill that day
in november
HELLO saw us in december,
conversating
and january dating
{starting with dinner for two
...just me and you}

do you remember?

yet, here
...fresh off the start of
september
pain overshadows that cool
november day

silent tears
swelled
fell
where joy once dwelled
my heart
to this hell
i surrender

WELL...
do you remember

do you remember
the image of you in my eyes
that helped me
...realize
all the things i'd missed
all the love i had to share
a man's touch to give
a love-filled heart to bare
ahhhh.....

YOU begged for that day
...that moment.

do you remember?

p.s. i won't let the pain of not having you overshadow the joy of
having been with you...and all the wonderful times we shared. always
know that i love you...i will always love you...and you will forever be
etched in my memory of today.

all our tomorrows
...our hopes and dreams
washed away by the
THIS COULD NEVER BE
realization
on the last day of our
togetherness

{forever was short this year}

do you remember

the plans we laid
...promises made
on that forever day
when LOVE was made
{TO HAVE AND TO HOLD}
i laid
...in your GENTLE embrace

do you remember

do you remember
november
when first we met
or january
when i gave my heart for you to carry
to the doorway of happiness
lest you forget
{I PLEDGED MY HEART TO THEE}
that you might one day marry me
that i might provide lasting happiness
and share the truth
of our togetherness

do you remember

i don't

all i'll remember
is that day in JULY
when you walked away
no explanation
WHY
after a weekend of bliss
you left me without a kiss
wounded
feeling the pain of this
{bad moments are all we remember}
{i guess}

no...

i won't remember
the laughter we shared
the love we had
the day we met
all this...i'll forget
but no...not that day in july
when all that was left
is a mournful goodbye
...saddened
...painful
...ironic
{goodbye}

i watched
without action
not reacting
as the disposal of dreams
devoured our TOMORROWS

our FUTURE
raced down a drain of NEVER AGAIN
all traces of YESTERDAY
washed away
by teary raindrops
that wouldn't stop
as hope retreated from the doorway of happiness
i know not how to handle this
how did i get in this mess

do you remember?
