Ted Nugent Calls For Native Americans to ‘Go Back Where They Came From’

STURGIS, S.D. – After a group of Native Americans protested outside a concert by Ted Nugent, the late-1970s rocker verbally lashed out, calling them “stinkyass unclean dipshIt protestors” and calling for Native Americans to be “rounded up and shipped back to wherever they came from!”
Nugent’s differences with Native Americans stem from their offence at his history of racially-charged statements. After one tribe cancelled his scheduled appearance at a casino in Worley, Idaho, he railed, “I take it as a badge of honor that such unclean vermin are upset by me and my positive energy. By all indicators, I don’t think they actually qualify as people.”

According to Nugent, the latest protest over his appearance at the Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, South Dakota, however, stepped over the line. Writing on his Facebook page, Nugent said, “WE ARE ON OUR JET NOW HEADING FOR TOLEDO RIBFEST JAM AFTER AN INSANE INCREDIBLE OUT OF BODY ULTRAROCKOUT at the Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis SD! Simply astonishing gig! 4 stinkyass unclean dipshit protestors that admitted they hate me AND ALL WHITE PEOPLE THAT STOLE THEIR LAND ********!!
“They need to just shut up and admit WE WERE HERE FIRST! Nobody asked them to come to America! They got a problem with a successful, happy, white American, they should just go back where they came from!” he added. “Hell, it’s past time these ******* were ROUNDED UP AND SHIPPED BACK TO WHEREVER THEY CAME FROM! I’ll even donate the shipping crates!”
When a reporter attempted to explain to Nugent- creator of such late-1970’s hits as Wang Dang Sweet Poontang and Free-For-All that the Native American tribes were, in fact, in America more than 10,000 years before Europeans came and settled the continent, Nugent shoved an AK-47 in his face, saying, “Shut up, unclean vermin!”

I despise this man. He is such a portrait of most white Americans today. If they didn't agree with his stance, they would stand up and speak out! But we should stand up and speak louder through our actions. i.e., getting involved with the political process in our communities!

We don't vote enough. We don't write letters to the editor. We don't call into the talk shows.

Voting can be a good thing for Blacks, and watching the movie Selma showed how important voting was to us at that time. However, history shows us that once we do start making major advances as a race, the TPTB will find away to destroy our gains we made through voting, whether it be by changing laws, or by brute force...something they always reserve as a last resort.

In other words, the gutting of the Voting Rights Act is nothing new. Let somebody Black who knows real Black History tell us the truth about what really happened during reconstruction during the 1870's. This was a time several years after the civil war when free Blacks were able to utilize their skills they used during their 300 years of slavery and build cities for themselves. We had around 70 cities in the country during this time, and Blacks were striving, voting many of their own into public office. Some had even intermarried with whites. So what did the white power structure do as a result? They gutted Black peoples voting rights and some. This included dissolving interracial marriages, even to the point of digging Black bodies out of cemeteries where whites where buried. To make a long story short, they took away all we achieved and replaced it with lynchings by the KKK, and Jim Crow.

A lot of us don't want to recognize it, but we are still living with this savage with that same mentality. Just let a few Blacks have something at the same time the white unemployment rate rise a little, and you'll see that beast for who he is again, over and over. So with out real control, power, or protection, we would probably wound up voting for what happened to us after reconstruction all over again if we do gain anything substantial through voting. The recent gutting of the Voting Rights Act seems to be a way to hide what the white power structure would really do if we ever did gain anything again through voting. It's just a way for them to hold us down with out having to lynch or declare war on us up front again the way they did during Jim Crow.

So it's time to learn about what really happened in those 1870's, not only to understand what white people did to us, but to understand our skills we had, and how much we can achieve as a group, however we must have a plan this time that doesn't include integrating. We must make whites realize they can't continue to harm us and move forward at the same time. We must make them realize the more harm they do to us, the more power they are handing over to us over them. This can be done by having a sound economic plan, a plan where we can do trade with the rest of the world. But the Black Boule need to stop selling us out. Weeding out the ones who sell us out would speed up our economic plan. We can do even more than we did during reconstruction. But we may have to do it without the Black Boule, and it is possible, even while they try to sell us out. But first we need to unify with one another, and respect one another. When this become a permanent part of our culture again, people will side with us anyway.

It seems apparent to me that some folks are so intent on defending the SAE boys as "not racists" that they're missing the real point...the question is not wheth...er they are racists at the core of their being, or horrible, irredeemable people; the question is why are so many white folks prepared to participate in racist performance, racist actions and racist humor? Why are so many whites silent in the face of it, content to say, "I didn't do it?" when the real issue is: did you speak out against the ones who did? During the period of enslavement and Jim Crow, most whites neither owned other human beings nor businesses that actively discriminated, but they participated in that system every day, by their silence, by their "going along to get along." It strikes me that if the SAE boys aren't racist, the implications are even more grotesque. That would mean that whites who aren't actually racists are gleefully willing to engage in racism despite their core decency. That is far scarier frankly, and thus the fact that some would offer that as the defense of these kids speaks volumes about what white America refuses to understand about the problem. We're so busy thinking of racism as an interpersonal pathology--and thus looking for "bad people" to whom we can cast our critical gaze--that we miss the systemic and structural problems at the root of individual behaviors.
