Do we dare?
Do we dare take a dive
in that colorful mound of leaves
just set ourselves free and alive
We look around our secluded New England
bungalow, and figure, hey, why not?
We grasp hands, take a running leap and
landed upon those leaves like we were shot
out of a cannon...What fun this is, just frolicking
and giggling like kids, amid the crunching sound.
Red, yellow, brown, with a hint of green, seemingly
falling from the sky, what a simple joy we've found.
As the sun sets, and the air gets cooler, we cease
rolling around in the leaves, and snuggle and spoon.
Do we dare?
Do we dare allow child's play to mature into adult play
as we become hypnotized under the light of the moon?
It is of no use, we've become lost in each other, causing
hands to roam and rediscover soft and delicate places
longing to be touched. Clothes are discarded amongst the
fall foliage, and a blissful trance is written all over our faces.
The leaves continue to crunch, as we roll, slowly this time...
Red, yellow, brown, with a hint of green, cascade
down upon our bodies, tickling our skin.
Oblivious to the chill in the air, the warmth between us makes
us forget the chill of the night air we're breathlessly taking in,
as moans harmonize with the rustling of the underbrush.
Except for the sound of our breathing, all is quiet now.
And we delight in the calm of nature's peaceful hush.
