I laid there, heart beating
sweat dripping as I longed.
i held tight to the lie on his lips
about how he didn't know what he missed
as i wondered in agony about sunrise.
Months passed as we laughed,
shimmering in the sweat
of night baseball, fireworks and unspoken dreams
refusing to share, yet i know he felt the same as i
you know in silence, beats skipped
are accuentuated and the weak thoughts
of the power of two are visible to those
searching to be loved;
coveting to be told that I can count on someone and things
other than bill collectors and late child support payments
yearning to hear, forever and a day
and then...
days became shorter and nights longer
and responsibilities of the fall took priority
to playdates at the park and nights spent
foraging deep into sin
how does one go from loving you silently
to just being silent with no
argument or banter, no fight
no tears, just there and then gone...
until the night that he held me in lies
while I laid in his arms, stroking the
hair on his back (that i never minded) and
wondering where it/I went wrong
and after all the disappointments
and refusing to plan longer than today's afternoon
I still miss you and the long summer evenings
where we talked through moonsets and sunrises.

loved the emotions conveyed in this piece...as well as the description of the love relationship when one is playing games and the other is accepting of it because she doesn't want to lose him...knowing that it's not going to last...coz she deserves more...yet holding on to the memories of how things were, while hoping that they could be THAT again. the YEARNING is present throughout this piece.

love it when words speak to me.

the river floweth
