    yesteryear
    eclipsed my horizons
    anchored in heavy rain pour
flooded soul deep with an unhealthy
    passion for doubt

    a
    happiness
    drought cracked my
    spirit

    I was broken…

    couldn’t
recall when last love resided inside
where a chill filled spaces warmth left behind
    and trust withered and
    died

    it
    be a lie
    if…

    I
    said
    I never cried

    or…

    fear
    never brewed
    in me
    at
    times

    I
    went
    through the motions
    of…

    scarcely
    living throughout days
    and nights, months and years
    wind blown to and
    fro

    no body knew…

    life’s
    wear and tear
left me toddler-like for a second time
afraid to take a single step
    holding
    on
    (tight)
    for
    dear
    life
    balancing
between past and present like pieces of
    furniture waiting for
    wobbling legs to
    steady

    innocence…

    is
    a sense
    I often missed
    when guarding got too
    intense

    finally
    I wrapped my head around
    the importance of
    a sunrise

    a
    brand new
    day
    gives birth to fresh
    beginnings

    a
    chance to make
    a change

    I
    saw
    a
    sunrise

    and…

    I
    rose
    to
    meet
    it

Well written piece from start to finish, but there were some lines I had to quote...

What a vivid picture of that unsteady gait. And then there's the ending to this piece...
Poetess, you certainly know how to turn phrase. Perfect ending. Flow on sis, and keep on rising in positivity! :)

    This is a great flow...

An innocence is lost when everyday
The tensions of guarding the heart take forefront.

    Damage control is tension.
    Fear is real
    Letting one's self be open
Is an art not an easy skill.

To the heart I hope it always finds true love.
Opening up allows it to be found.
    Tension builds have no fear
One can't miss what can not be measured.

    Sir. Richness,
Being cleansed of old issues that drags one down and waking up to a sunrise and ready to take on the world… feels soul good!:spinn:

    Watz,
Sometimes when poetry is written from personal experience words tent to paint a more vivid picture… I guess?:)

    So’ja,
I hope the visions were as wonderful as I felt when I met the sunrise.

    Apple,
Poetry has a way of doing all those things you mentioned.

    Hodee,
    Encouraging words… I thank you.:)

Thank you all for reading and sharing your thoughts.

This was outstanding! I can see the rays bursting through the clouds right now! Oh, the promise of a new day is such a beautiful wonder!

And your words gave birth to an exquisite imagery and a hopeful rising!

i, too, saw the sun rise...

    I saw the sun rise

There was a disturbance in the darkness

A fireball of excitement raced across
    A dusk-gray sky
    At seemingly turtle like speeds
    (As humans see)

Its outer extremities reaching into voids of nothingness
A red-hot mess of glowing embers
    …Its tentacles
    Searching…seeking
    Devouring oxygen
    Growing brighter

    Slowly,
    Illumination gave light to sight
    As darkness began to fade
    Until red-hot became white
And darkness was replaced by light

I saw a disturbance in the night

    From dusk to dawn, and
    Twi-light’s early morn, as
    DARKness
    Let go of the light

    I saw the sun rise

    It was a quiet moment
    With “dignified” written on it
And all the things our parents knew
Gave over to us, with things
    Anew

    A new day
    A new start
New beginnings giving birth to new endings
    But to each one…mending

There was a disturbance in the night

    A glimmer…
Left over from a full moon’s dance
    That gave us a chance
    To see
    Today

    I saw the sun rise
    And, in that sighting
    I saw every wonder
    Ever imagined

    As I said
    “Good morning”
    To you

TIL WE MIGHT ONE DAY SHARE THAT SUNRISE.
