Black People Politics : How NBC Whitewashed AA Issues at Sunday's Democratic Debate

Election 2016

So many pressing and critical issues ignored.

Amidst outrage about the Academy Awards whitewashing the Oscars, NBC News has managed to commit a similar misstep by largely whitewashing a Democratic presidential debate hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute. Held on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr.’s holiday, the debate was presumably intended to uplift and highlight issues facing the African-American community.

Yet the NBC News debate moderators, Lester Holt and Andrea Mitchell, committed a disservice to African Americans and the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. by failing to ask any questions — beyond gun safety, black males and police reform — that focus on the myriad of issues facing black America.

This is a critical moment in time for African Americans.

No doubt about it, Lester Holt is a big disappointment, he comes off as a shell of a Black man. We know Andrea is counterfeit, but Holt, smh

If you want representation it definitely will not being coming from them. It has everything to do with what these folks give a crap about and that is money which in turn effectuates policy. He who has the money has the power and Africans ain't got the money...

Ok, I have wasted time going in circles with people who do not believe in voting before. The same people said President Obama could never win in 2008, but he did.

So, now we need to step up our game, that's all. It's not one or the other. It's both. A Million Black Men Marching To Washington are ready to do what it takes to improve our lot here. Are you?

We have learned a lot. We have learned that not only must we vote we also must stay in their behinds to make them stay on track representing us.

And, the article is not saying that the candidates didn't speak on our issues. It is saying that the MODERATORS dropped the ball, and the candidates had to take it into their own hands, and they tried to interject when they could.

If AA votes don't mean anything, why do you think there is so much effort put into denying us our right to vote?

And anyone who thinks it doesn't matter whether we have Trump for President or Sanders, is asleep at the wheel.
