"The best way to hide something from Black people is to put it in a book."

As we know,
“The pen is mightier than the sword.”
And when it comes to reparations
It’s all about what those in power will award
To those they’ve conquered
Either monetarily or historically…

Now, when the U.S. fought different Indian tribes
After they won, they rounded them up like human cattle
And in our history books,
Almost every U.S. victory is labeled as a “Battle”
But, when the Indians got mad and in their determination not to defer
Because WHITE blood was shed, suddenly, it was called a vicious “massacre’

All because they volleyed back, going on the attack
Being proactive instead of reactive
To a European marauder
Because their ancestral ownership was broader
Than any declaration or treaty

But when Sitting Bull stood tall and erect
And Custer got his army wrecked and his butt checked
Well, then, they had to come a little mo’ correct
And, reluctantly, give ‘em some respect!

So, when it comes to land reparations
How could they give away something
That was never theirs to begin with?
So, wasn’t “Forty acres and a mule”
Always just American history's myth?

And when some freed slaves went to Africa
They started a colony called Liberia
While today, they still have political and military hysteria
So, no rightful land, no country, and no home
Does yet set, the Black American to roam
Looking for rest
So, yes,
For every race, it’s a biased case
When it comes to the history books
And some dissension always brooks
Between what is told and what is left out
But, why should I need White America
To provide me what MY ancient story tells about?
For ‘tis sad but true
That almost all our hidden secrets lie within a book
While we wait to be spoonfed without taking a look
For ourselves
For even the Great Zimbabwe…..had a library

keep teach and spreading da truth fo real sis ....I'm listening and learning

Thank you much, Rich!

Yes, I believe in telling our stories and keeping our history alive.

Sadly, gone are the days of the great storytellers.

Even the ones within our own families are dying out and someone needs to pick up the banner from our Elders.
