I disagree. A "generation" is 20 to 25 years, yes?

The children born in 1965 [2nd] were products of their civil rights movement and/or more militant, revolutionist parents. [1st]

Fast forward 20/25 years, 1985 to 1990 and those children became parents. [3rd]

Another 20 years later and it's 2010 with an in-coming [4th] generation....

Just where might you pinpoint the "backwards-ness" and "polarization" being first incubated?
