THis has been happening to me for some years now and now I see that location does not matter. I will have a weird feeling/looking mark on my body with no symptoms and later on in the day (without scratching) my skin will start opening and bleeding as if someone was scratching me. I have these marks on my face,chest and back. I am not sure what to do about it, but I feel that something is hovering over me....any suggestions?

The term originates from the line at the end of Saint Paul's Letter to the Galatians where he says, "I bear on my body the marks of Jesus," stigmata is the plural of the Greek word stigma meaning a mark or brand such as might have been used for identification of an animal or slave. An individual bearing stigmata is referred to as a stigmatic.
