up’s and down’s high’s and low’s
you will never know what it’s like to be me
how bright and glaringly i see the world
on monday
how mundane and gray it looks on tuesday
invasive that i even have to deal
on days for real
i used to trust you with all of my heart
we were a team
you and i together could defeat anything
there was a time when i would have died for you
until one day you said you wished that i was dead
those words are still in my head
at that moment i heard my heart break
tiny pieces fell to the ground
millions of shards all around
this is too much to be put back together
your betrayal was emotional
for you had not cheated
but it was my soul you had defeated
you weren’t there for me, you didn’t protect me
and don’t you know we had a family
so it’s not just about me and you
it’s about our family too
but no, you said what you had to say
broke my heart and I heard it that day
so i handled my business to make sure you’d stay
and even though times are good again
you will never know what it’s like to be me
how bright and glaringly i see the world
on monday
how mundane and gray it looks on tuesday
and how sometimes i try to put the pieces back together
but like sand they continue
to slip through my hands

redlady, this was a beautiful sad read, I agree with Kitana. Actually makes me angry too. I liked these lines particularly....

"at the moment I heard my heart break
tiny pices fell to the ground
millions of shards all around"

"and how sometimes I try to put the pieces back together
but like sand they continue
to slip though my hands"

I think those words say it all, loved the way you put those lines together. I also can relate.
