I don't understand what you're trying to get at?
Legal status would be that granted in accordance to law.
Political status is something different and encompasses a greater scope than legal status.
Nationality is a political status.
These are all legal terms of art in addition to being European, specifically, Anglo-Saxon customs.
Example:
U.S. citizen is a legal and political status.
Californian is a nationality and political status.
There is a whole mess of stuff we'd need to dive into including citizenship, denizenship, aliens, domicile, residency, body politics, nationality, and more.
Furthermore, we'd have to dive into national vs. federal government, compacts (treaties), what a state is, and much more.
