I am freaking out. I am finally able to grow facial hair and my mustache and mini beard actually contain blonde hair.

My son also has blonde hair.

Has this happened to anybody else?

Nope...

Blamed it on the questionable genes in my background. Went online and read theat sometimes melanin doesn't reach everywhere. I was expecting possibly gray, but not blonde. Well not even gray since I'm only 36.

maybe you're an albino or something. There are different degrees of abinism...maybe you have an albino gene. Is your son really pale? does he have light eyes?
