Black Poetry : An Ocean View

[Heartbeat]

Sand sifts through my fingers
Falling to the beach where I stand watching
The boat a half mile from shore
A figure on deck stretches toward the sky
It is a woman
The nipples of her breasts a silhouette
The roundness of her *** matches the roundness of the sun
Is she as hot?
Is she waiting for a lover to join her in nakedness?
Who will emerge from the cabin below?
Please let it be no one
She stands erect
Just like me
She must see me
Perhaps she knows I swim only in pools
Else I would join her
Feeling her heat
Make love to her under the sun
But the boat moves further from shore
Her beautiful body now just an image
I loved those seconds watching her
Time in love can be short or long
It was beautiful
I smiled
My left hand moved
A twitch
It was a slight wave goodbye
I know she waved back
As I turned to join the boardwalk crowd

she saw only one
among the meandering
backdrop
of people passing
along the
boardwalk

only one man
standing in the sand
close to the shore

even from this
distance
she knew he
was tall in
stature

he stood straight
his shoulders
broad

long arms
& legs
probably tanned
in this heat

she faced
him, imagining
the features
of his face

the brightness of their
sun obscured such
details

but she could feel
his intense
gaze upon her
and so she stood
upon the deck

baring more than
her body

in those moments

with the mysterious,
lone man standing
in the sand
