I got a whale of a tale
To my chagrin
A good strong ale
Is where it all began

Alcohol abuse at home
Ruled the roost
Suffering alone
An empty glass was cute

Bar fly fights
Attended school polite
Nutty professors
Do their thing at night

A shell shocked dropout
Schooled on ice
His heartbreak hotel
None too nice...

Throttled by the bottle
With my life to live
I wanted to be better
Not this broken kid

That nasty vicious cycles
Can destroy one's life
Self destructive lessons
Are the stuff so rife

Pain upon pain
Sending no releif
A thirst insane
Letting havoc wreak

Do me one better
Than 100 proof
Love yourself and others
Under sober roofs
