Sometimes…….

Sometimes, I wonder how I came to be…why I came to be…
What is my purpose here as a black man…
What is God’s Plan….for me?
Sometimes….
Sometimes I drift off into another place, staring into space,
blank expression on my face, trying to figure out,
Why things are like they are, why the light at the end of the tunnel
seems so far………..
Away from me and mine……..I do wonder
Sometimes………
My thoughts are complex
Electrical mind waves…..constantly processing data,
No rest……no rest for the weary,
my eyes remain teary,
forecast still dreary…….
Sometimes………
I ask why,
But there is no answer for what I have asked,
So I choose to bask….
In HIS glory, the author of my story
Sometimes I seek
Clarification….for my situation……
but the realization is, there is none
No explanation for my desperation, for my degradation, for my segregation, for my alienation from the norm, but I survived the storm, but it’s still windy
Sometimes..
I wish my arms were wings
So I could soar above the negative things
My departed mother’s voice I still cling
Sometimes,
I wish I could run,
And Dodge the smoking gun,
That sends to many of our brothers
To that place beyond the sun.
Sometimes
I feel like this is all a waste,
Giving a 110 percent
Just to come in second place.
But I have conceded that I cannot control the actions of man,
So sometimes, we just have to trust HIM,
After all, it’s all in HIS hands.
