I was talking to my mother about the drama her white female co-workers and boss give her, and I just thought to write this impromptu poetical reflection. Feel me......

I talked to my mother today
As she told me about her confrontation with her white boss
She is the prize Black servant on the Polack plantation
All her intellect and expertise is spent
Making a success of the organization that benefits THEIR children
THEIR organization that was never recognized by the media
Or as excellently directed
Before my mother’s coming
Yet they do not appreciate her gifts
It’s not enough that she goes above and beyond her duty
They want to see her lips swell and spread across her cheeks
Showing big, pearly teeth
They expect a step n fetch it, bug-eyed rolling, Prissy performance
Reminiscent of “Gone With The Wind” Days
“Yes , missus, Ise a simple minded nigress ready to do yo biddin whenever ya wave yo lily white hand”
Last time I checked my mother was a classy, saucy, high gold soul sista
With a flawless appearance and a magnificent wit and mind
Yet whenever her jealous white female co-workers look her way
I’m sure they see nothing but a too big for her britches darkie *****
It’s funny that Scarlet O’Hara looked to Prissy to teach her to be a woman
Like these white women look to my mother to lead their program to success
She’s the only Black woman that has directed the organization EVER
So tell me why is it, that if Black women are such savages----
Then white women are always looking toward us to teach them
& show them the way?
White women are filled with contradiction and hypocrisy
Jealousy and spite shining in their hateful eyes
They can call themselves Christians, Liberals, Feminists etc etc
It all means the same thing to every sista who knows these shrews for who they really be
The ones that give us madd drama from classrooms to boardrooms
& sometimes try to get up in our bedrooms
With that fine, Black forbidden buck
They all dream of slipping into the shadows with
To taste and feel how good Black sin is
Suck their fingers, toss their hair, and copulate in heat
Hop across the color line and scream
Rape!
Or end up being another Nicole Simpson case…..
I’m not writing these words to offend anyone
But this is for my Mama cast into a Butterfly McQueen role
That does not reflect the powerful women she truly is behind the mask of professionalism and politeness
This poem is for all my sisters playing Prissy to Big Missies all over America
Don’t let anyone make you feel ashamed of who you are
When you are the only Black female face among whites
Making power moves and scaling the corporate ladders
Breaking glass ceilings
Breaking barriers
Shattering stereotypes
There is no shame in your success
Mama Butterfly McQueen played the part to pave the way
On the Great White Screen
So we could see Dorothy, Cicely, Angela, Nia, Halle, Vanessa, Vivica, and all Sistahs
Star in Hollywood Dreams
So sistah hold your head up high
Keep your back straight and walk like you own the world
Realize that your existence is the power of all Creation
Without you, there is nothing
Skinny blonde and brunette broads with their treacherous blue and green gazes
Glazed with envy and malice
Don’t have a **** thing on you
Float on the wings of Mama Butterfly’s sacrifice
& never forget that you are truly a Queen
