I remember the March to Washington
I was just a child, just a little thing.
Seeing hundreds of people walking
right by my front door.
They were singing.
They were waving.
I was smiling.
I was waving.
It was so wonderful.
So many people happy.

I remember when Martin Luther King was shoot
I was just a child watching TV
Everyone though it was a April fool joke
It was no joke
The country went into a panic.
It really happen
So many people crying

I remember the Riot and how the city burned
Lighting up the sky’s in the dark of the night
I was just a little thing
And I was screaming from the terror
Guns shoot in the night
So many people dying

I remember the Curfew
The city on a shut down
Tank coming up my street
Soldiers fully loaded
Marching in front of my home
I peeked out the window
And frozen from the sight
So many tanks rolling
Down the block
Where once people
March happily
Now soldiers marching
Fully loaded
So many People praying.

I remember being hungry
All the food had to be ration
Filling pots and jars with water
The riot destroy the markets
The looter took all of it
The only food was in the white hood
But we could not leave our hood
Sitting very quietly
The only sound was stomach rumbling
I was just a little thing,
Nothing but a child
I was so scared. It last 5 days
But to me it never went away
So many people hungry

I remember people happy
I remember people dying
I remember tanks and soldiers
I remember being hungry
I was nothing but a child
Nothing but a little thing
Now I am
Walking History
This is not the end
Peace
