    Aiight, does anybody know what a mental illness is? Aiight, I assume most of ya'll don't most of US don't know about it. Well, guess what? I do. A mental illness is a sickness that affects how a person acts toward things. Particularly, a normal person. Aiight let's cut to the chase, there's one illness I wanna talk about................bipolar disorder. 2.7 million African-Americans in the U.S. have bipolar disorder and don't know. As a matter of fact, Jenifer Lewis, DMX, Martin Lawrence, and Bobby Brown all have bipolar disorder. My grandma and grandfather had it. My dad has it. Yeah, you guessed I got it too.......but with medication and intense interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, or family therapy weekly.......it can be managed effectively The symptoms of bipolar disorder are the following

    Mania(severe highs):
    -feelking "high", euphoric
    -Irratability, restlessness
    -Racing thoughts, nonstop talking
    -Increased energy, sleeplessness
    -Inflated self esteem, poor judgement
    -Spending spress and/or other activities with high potential for painful consequences

    Depression(severe lows):
    -Sadness, hopelessness
    -Excessive feelings of guilt, worthlessness
    -Difficulty concentrating, making decisions
    -Loss of self-esteem
    -Drug or alcohol use
    -Suicidal thoughts, plans, or attempts

    Hello and Welcome latinishajones!:hi:

    Thank you for this very important message.

    My friends daughter has bipolar disorder and
    watching the changes she goes through is
    heartbreaking. When you wrote down the
    highs and lows, I couldn't help but to think
    how those words are an understatement
    compare to the actual effects.

    Im happy you brought this message to the forefront,
    Letting people know they don't have to suffer
    anymore than they need too.

    Thank you Sister! I wish you much Happiness!

    :heart:
