By desegregation we have to move away from the corporate American minded lifestyle, many of us so called Blacks rely too much on things created by these corporations. Although many in our community live under the poverty line, yet we are the biggest consumers in this country. We have to do better and stop supporting the corporations , we give all of our hard-earned money right back after we get it , and it's mostly on things that we don't need. If we stop carelessly speding our money on their products, then we can actually invest into our own community.
Look at what I found on google search engine for a definition on "consumerism":
- (def.) -- the theory that an increasing consumption of goods is economically beneficial.
But to speak on your point about investing...I always thought black millionaires could contribute/invest more (if they already haven't invested at some point) into black communities,...we have many athletes (NBA, NFL,...), musicians, who are wealthy to the nth degree,.. but then again, can they expect to get a return on their investment...I sometimes dream of actualizing a collaboration of youth groups for the purpose learning, studying, attending college, and become something..it can be a bit cost prohibitive, or even with little financing...you need willing and able adults to supervise and partake.
