Crawford: More businesses to be targeted for support

Politicians, residents, community organizers and business leaders converged on the Subway restaurant at Lake Street and Pulaski, May 10, to not only show support for that black-owned franchise but for black West Side businesses overall.

More than $1,000 from an estimated 200 sandwich sales filled the cash register at the 304 N. Pulaski Subway owned by Kevin and Deirdre Cunningham.

They opened their business in November 2013. Saturday's sales drive brought out the Westside Branch NAACP, Austin elected officials, and West Side residents. Promoted on WGCI Radio and local television, people even came from other parts of town.

Why thank you, Hoodee. The ONLY BLACK SUBWAY IN AMERICA is located in Chicago.... NOT Detroit (like the liar said). And we know it's so because WGCI radio station does NOT broadcast news (since when is a franchise news? When it's the FIRST of its kind ) of one of the score, may HUNDRED McDonald's openings in that city. After all, this IS a fast food restaurant, not a fine dining in the black community one.


Btw, still waiting on the LIAR to produce his phantom DETROIT Subways.

There are 43 million African Americans in the United States, 13.7 percent of the total population, the second largest racial minority in the country. The median age is 32 and 47 percent are under 35 years of age.

Even with these impressive numbers and buying power most mainstream advertisers are not inclusive, do not include African Americans in media and marketing plans and have underestimated the market size.

The President of the national Association of Accountants... say this shows:
“The Nielsen report is very encouraging because it shows the African American population is a tremendous financial asset to this country’s economic recovery,” says Calvin Harris, Jr. , President & CEO of the National Association of Black Accountants.

But say nothing about the growth possible nor the building of solid economics within the community.

Rebuild America?
