Actually, Jesus said that a man can divorce his wife if she sleeps with another man (adultery) or is found to not be a virgin at the time of marriage (fornication).
In the Old Testament, God commanded that women who were found not to be virgins at the time of marriage were to be stoned to death. (Deuteronomy 22:13-21).
Rather than executing them, Jesus said their husbands could divorce them instead. (Matthew 5:32)
Matthew 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

One "collective failure" of black men is that we don't follow the precepts of God, as evidenced by some of the statements in this thread.
I never got to know my son. Now in my twilight years I feel like a fool. On a more positive note I never made the same mistake with my Daughter. I'm sat here with her right now watching the soaps and watching my grand Daughter smiling at me..heaven
