My friend and I are at odds on a few points
He believes I support too much Colonial Shiite
too I'm a Christian
to him that is a sell out
He is Marcus Garvey minded
I am open to growth
He is Pro-Black only
I eat white bread light brown toast
I believe in black business ownership like he does,
He believes we need to have more Black promoted business love
I first encountered whites in my world
When I visited my cousin who lived in the suburbs.
Today it is called Ferguson maybe you heard.
His white friends were not my friends
I didn’t like how they acted and spoke.
They called him blackie and he didn’t mind the insults.
So I ran with my city friends and found some new dirt.
I have no hatred for whites who am I to go around and hurt.
I won’t allow it to happen to me so I don’t do it to another.
As much as I hated his get along ways I protected my cousin.
Other blacks in the area we quickly became friends.
They wanted to jump a fellow until they told me his name.
My cousin can like anyone he chooses to like and be
But don’t lay your hands on blood or it’s me you will see
Hatred stops progression and blocks
Freedom, from growth and from seeing solutions
From participating and capturing a grip on this illusion.
That man is sleeping well in a nice house and has a nice car everyday he is cruising
I digressed to say that because my friend is this way.
I asked him how we can get there without trial, and using what we have at our disposal
Think he inventing something new
This life repeats over and over
Way before he and I came to be
Products and services were and still are bought from the same places I see.
Since that’s all we have had in our lives.
He states not to patronize and buy from the man.
I wonder where he gets the food he consumes?
Because if he went to the local black store on his block.
Those products came from the source he dislikes.
I once stated what you want me to do?
Would tossing away using a knife and fork be a resolution
I grew up eating my greens and some foods with my hands
He gets up like I do and commutes to the man’s place of work.
He toils like the rest of us and scratches for dirt.
A wage that never seems to bring anyone above a certain line.
My friend is right when he says Black Economic time.
We collaborated and work on some interesting things.
My friend he is strong willed and controlling I know.
He listens but he doesn’t see
He listens and doesn’t hear sometimes
Pin point, blinder vision he has
His hate for the white man is blinding my friend
Seeking the solutions
I spoke to my friend not long ago.
He listened we laughed then he found a way to go.
I haven’t been honest and told him the truth.
I’m a friend that believes everyone must plant their own roots
To plant them and grow them in a thought, direction and path.
But when his got twisted is when our friendship was tasked.
I will eventually tell him what I should have said then.
I gave him his space and we are distant friends.
he is mad at me,me not mad at him
because instead of arguing
I will just use my resources and time somewhere else
What I didn’t tell was what he did hurt a bond.
Different means to an end is clear to me.
Means to an end up to the finish line.
Plan to use what we have at the time
The importance is the final outcome outlined.
What he missed was we both were agreeing on one thing
Buy Black, Support Black but he missed the dream
His hatred is blinding him, to the finer points of the plan
Of how to get from under the man
To get there
He has to first have a trust
Regardless of resources know to use them and how they work
Refocusing doesn't mean letting down your guard.
Maybe one day we will again come to a place eye to eye
It’s a shame we won’t get there in the same ride
My gut tells me it will be separate
Something he claims
That’s the way blacks are.
