Who is familiar with Sharia Law and how it is practiced in the US? I stumbled upon this information and thought I would ask the question here. I never heard of it before. My intent is not to disrespect anyone because of their belief, but to learn how religious beliefs intersect with every day living in communities. I Googled the subject and found that there is a city in Michigan--Dearborn--that fully incorporates Sharia Law, the first to do so in the US. Do you have to be Muslim for Sharia Law to apply? How does this impact the separation of church and state in the US? Or does it? Maybe this topic should be in the religion section.
