That is a very defeatist attitude. It bwonte until we stop accepting
what they dish out to us with such non resistance and normalcy that they respect us enough to
not shoot unarmed brothers with their hands tied behind their back

is that right?.. how does burning down the nail shop equal "stop accepting"?
and for the record I didn't say anything about not resisting.. my comments spoke
to the details of the resistance.. burning up the property of uninvolved potentially equally outraged folks
is not an appropriate response.. creating a campaign to disarm Bart Police is..
Boycotting BART until they disarm BART police is.. Pressuring the next would-be
mayor to Disarm BART police is.. Making this upcoming election about Disarming
BART Police is.. Protesting at the DA's office.. the Bart offices.. the police station..
the Mayors office is.. working to make sure this can't happen again
in the way that it did is.. Burning the nail shop isn't.. Painting murals isn't..
making rap songs isn't.. a couple of days of protesting isn't.. Protesting everyday is..
holding out until real change happens is.. none of this is new.. my comments were
about effectiveness.. about getting to the desired
result.. and there's nothing defeatist about that.. the entire country
was on fire when King was killed.. what changed? did the cops suddenly
start respecting black folks.. did they stop killing us? what about Rodney
King? did that work? Rioting is the response they want.. they actually ask
us to riot.. they set it up.. the news media tells us where to go and when..
it's all a part of the box we are in.. did anybody burn Mesherle's house down?
or attack the BART station where it happened? Did anybody aim any of their
anger at anyone even remotely responsible for the incident? Defeatist?
come on now.. think again.

First of all:

Yeah...

I've only been out your way twice...

But...

Nothing was or is as heartbreaking as seeing them downtrodden black folks boarding the south central area l. a. transit trains...

So....

Of course, being familiar how marginalized some black folk are in that part of the nation, and also being more than just familiar with our folk here too, that one incident merely reflected already pent up feelings/thoughts/etc., i. e., as regards the self serving double standards, as regards who and what and where certain folks--mostly whites--did and do--when it comes to keeping mostly whites on the bottom/themselves on the top...

The illusion has to do with the means and ways other ethnic/racial groups are merely allowed to front, i. e, what they don't represent is a true threat to the cultural/social/economic/POLITICAL white status quo...

Though that may well be changing--in places and spaces like--say--Arizona?

Do more than merely read between the lines--and peep the real headlines--because more is being revealed than what other folk would have us to know and understand...

:fyi:
