New ways of thinking
from me to us
am i going to invest the time
developing trust
I watch how you move
swift, sure and corrupt
is this your professional life
or a 24/7 strut?
confusing when I cant
separate this life from that
when im willingly giving you
all I that I got
when I am showing you daily
how this could be
and you pushing while trilling
****, even I tire of me
insecure left wondering enough or too much
are you taking applications
to continue to fulfill your lust
or are you willing to take a stand
to show me, cuz **** the world
and all them girls,
that you instead are my man
I have begrudgingly confided,
perhaps misguided, that I really don't care
long as I dont see the affair
as long as they don't cross me
long as my phone don't ring
and my eyes don't see
long as my heart doesn't feel abused
cuz truth speaks my reality and all I need is you
retention seems locked in remaining drama free
I dont care if they laugh, they dont know me
they dont see us building to tomorrow
and i certainly dont see you chasing last night
instead your fire for me continues burning bright
so im trying too,
add to this empire
you started to build
figuring how to build towards a future
while stacking chips from yesterday
makes me hungry for this life
makes me sure I could be your wife
just want us to remain just like this
cuz loving you is a soul deep kiss
I wait late into the night
for runs to be done,
and before its over to sleep i succumb
I wake whole in your powerful embrace
acknowledging we both home and safe
your head falls in forgiveness as I eye the clock
but I was only thinking I love this man I got
