I thought so the first time I heard erykah Badu, but not anymore... I do think she got her style from artists of that era.

Badu trained as a jazz singer.. Billie holiday and Chaka khan are all over her vocal
style.. I would love to see a remake of Berry Gordy's Lady Sings The Blues.. starring Erykah Badu..
even though Jill Scott looks more like Billie and is more of
the personality type.. Erykah has that same sadness thing that Billie had and that
Diana was able to tap into..​
