Black story

At a young age
One night before i went to sleep
my mother told me
A black story

The story was
About how her and granny wept when Dr. King and Malcolm died
About the revolution in black pride

And

How some wanted to go back to Africa
In search of a seperation from white America
And re-attatchment to their roots
But how most stayed to make
A better day in the United States

I heard stories of segregation
Discrimination
The Islam nation
Of human rights complications

For you see, our opposition disagreed
With the fact that we were human beings
And deserving to be
Endowed with our constitution given rights

She told me of how
The panthers said ***** idle talk- lets fight
Then about how
Crack devastated the black community almost overnight

She told me a black story
with many chapters
And after
She was done
She told me that one day
I would be the one
To tell black two stories
Both hers and mine
Because keep in mind;
there's still a black story going on
Theres still many battles to be won
And still more sorrow before we're done

In this
Never ending
Black Story

mama told you right
and this black has no ending
because the fight continues
although must young people don't see it or old people for that matter

because of bling-bling, braids and b-ball

well written poet
