Atum and Aten, as I said; are extremely close in ideology.
The only people who were not familiar with Atum and the realization of the reversion back to the old religion through Aten would have been the foreigners and the people unfamiliar with Heliopolitain ideology. People just like you………

I disagree because the very naming scheme reveals the difference. Aten and Atum is One name (Monotheistic). Amen-Ra is a combination of two names (Polytheistic).There is nothing about ATEN that is more "ATUM" than AMEN-RA.
