Black People : Bobby Hemmitt: The mind and the masses in our society

Don't get me wrong. Continue to reach out to others. There will be a few who will cross, but the aggregate? Not a chance.

It depends on how one organizes.

For the most part, we mistakenly organize "Patriarchally."

In a Patriarchal organizational schema, "Individualism" is encouraged, thus "Individuals" will be capable of leadership.

Not coincidentally, this schema most weakens women. In certain societies, especially in the past, women were rarely interested in politics, let alone capable of managing the public sphere.

Nevertheless, we're supposed to organize "Matriarchally."

In the Matriarchal organizational schema, "Collectivism" (for lack of a better word) is encouraged, thus "groups" are influential.

In the group setting, individual distinction is recognized and fostered in a group, making most everyone "Conscious" rather than "Automatonic."

Essentially, the speaker spoke on "European societies" and their effects on African people; but this isn't something to generalize.

Amongst ourselves we don't really have 'automatons' because we actually do deeply foster the spiritual growth of everyone.

This opinion is too negative of African people.

I do not even know to what extent this has any truth--that of "Automatons" in Ancient Egyptian literature. Yet we must be wary of blindly following the ancients. For sometimes, it's not our ancients who are doing the writing.

I found the video absolutely fascinating and thought provoking.

If it was possible to save the masses, it would have been done a long time ago.

In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......Brothers,

Both points of view are recognized and understood. But a good life to the average person would be filled with justice. This is not the case, presently. Our people are confronted with injustices ranging from discrimination, disparate treatment, a need to organize to overcome self-hatred, etc. A good life around which justice is central, precludes the necessity of all the above, and leaves a life style of pleasure and relationships. There becomes no need to free the masses, but to provide a sense of fairness, the degree to which, bliss prevails. The goal for those willing should be to come up with the panacea, collectively. After all, the execution of a good life would be easy; establish relationships; enjoying meals, having enough sustenance to sustain a healthy and meaningful life.

Peace In,
