AFRICANGLOBE – Zimbabwe has — for the third consecutive time — been ranked at the apex of the literacy rate in Africa, the latest list by the African Economist Magazine reveals. The country has held pole position since 2010, taking over from Tunisia which is now ranked number 15.
According to the latest results, Zimbabwe’s literacy rate stands at 90.9 percent, down from 91.2 percent and it is the only country on the continent with a literacy rate of over 90 percent.

They have had a brave leader that could not be bribed by the West. More African leaders should be like him.

I beg to differ! "More African leaders should be like him"? Perish the thought! Most of the Afrikan leaders who came to power were Marxists like him, and that WAS the problem according to Dr. John Henrik Clarke! Instead of executing Ian Smith and expelling the whites from the country, he asked them to stay. They did, and that is why whites still own most of the fertile land, the mineral wealth, and control the economy! :(

Dr. John Henrik Clarke was a giant among men and a great respected scholar that I have great admiration for, but scholars rarely run nations and I doubt that there are any virtuous world leader anywhere on the globe. Dead people cannot explain themselves, still you must have ideas of your own, otherwise a disscussion with someone quoting the dead will not get us anyhere. Those African leaders that became Marxist may have done so by necessity (to break away from their colonial oppressors), what other choices did that have. What about the great Mandela and South Africa! Do you think he should have thrown out all the white oppressors, or do you think that he was "conditioned" in prison. De'Beers still have all their holdings, don't they? But you should also realize that whatever an African does "someone" is there to ensure that he does not succeed unless they also profit from it.

I wonder how accurate that number is, so less than half of the people (Black Americans) would be able to adequately read if one were to run a cross sampling reading test on the street at random? This article talks literacy rates, yet is full of gramatical errors...lol. I have my doubts about this. At any rate I agree that AA's need to take education to their/our own hands.
