Writing a poem about a black woman
Is like kneading my opinion to be expressed
Like where do I begin sewing on the form?
Well follow and begin with the number one
Joe and Ann was her business name
Had a lot in their eye's since the beginning.
Women do not find the need
    To work in the dark
Lights rather natural or man made
    Is said to be required.
Black women never being the main topic
Just the babies they bore to death
With their lectures of survival & life for you
In order for Joe and Ann to hunt together
Animal skins became the current trend
    Naturally fitting in
    By any means mind you
Creations are a part of creating
Like upon our wraps we blend, mediate, meditate and fight
    Sharp equipment in our right
While we hold told for our life
As a black woman's poem of integrity takes place
    For us to see
    The important view of perfection
Laid out just for our need of always making it happen.
Never forgetting what has always kept our form warm.

May I write a poem for you, black woman
Chocolaty fine and always kind, black woman

    Statuesque and Candeesweet
Beautiful brown eyes and pearly white teeth
Mocha latte skin tone or ebony hued
It doesn’t matter the variation when I think of you

An apple bottom behind is fine but it’s not required
Nor is the voluptuous chest…though, in some, it’s desired

It’s the tone of your talk…and the stride of your walk
All signs of great strength…in which, none can find fault

It’s the joy in your smile…and the tenderness of your caress
From a strong, black woman, I’d expect no less

    I SING A SONG…BLACK WOMAN.
