And they came
in the middle of the night
busting doors down
causing chaos and fright
Some of them you recognized
even thought some were friends
But no way you could have known
there were deceitful means to those ends
As each home was invaded, the leader said...
"We like some of ya'll, we really do.
Individually some of you are fine, but
as a group, you've become much too
great of a liability. Why should we
lose a job to the likes of you?
What is this hip hop culture, being
forced down our throats... Word?
I ain't scurred? Holla?
How absurd!
The only black in this red, white,
and blue should be under our thumb
and only at our beck and call.
Don't stand there looking dumb.
You should have at least had
an inkling of what was to come.
During the last election, instead
of giving 50/11 sermons on a mount
You should have united and figured out
why half of your votes didn't even count.
We were making plans then, to reverse the wrong
making our forefathers turn in their graves
You have served no real purpose being free
so now, we, the majority, are making you slaves."
Some of the captured stood in awe.
Some tried to run, some screamed.
To be enslaved like their foreparents were,
was a horror they couldn't possibly have dreamed.
Some would rather die than to live this way,
and oh how bravely they fought.
But there was too many captors, they were quickly
subdued, so the battle was really for naught.
And a father cried out, "So what are we going to do? What
will become of my sister, what lies ahead for my brother?
And a mournful mother replied, "Such a pity, so much can go
wrong, when so many nubian people don't truly love each other."
And I awakened with a start, for this food
for thought was much too hard to chew,
let alone swallow. Could this actually happen to me?
Could it possibly happen to you?
Perhaps I'll continue
in part two....
