It was only 2am. Too early to arise.
And I am so tired, must have been a fluke. No
more slave dreams. I just had to close my eyes...

    Slave Narrative Number One...
    Internet surfing, checking my stocks
    sending IMs, reading my email
All of a sudden these men burst in
and I'm thinking, what in the hail.....
They grab me, we tussle, there were
three of them. I got in a couple good blows,
but then I was beat down, told I was a slave
just like my foreparents, why? Who knows?
Put in chains, dragged to a bus and thrown
in like yesterday's trash. Children crying,
women praying, men beat up likewise. If
I don't get away, I'm going to die trying.
I had some run ins with Caucasians, but
nothing extreme, I must be dreaming.
Who would have guessed they were
    plotting this heinous plan, scheming,
smiling in our faces all the while. I stood
up and said, "Let us out, now!"
The butt of a gun struck my face, knocking
me to the floor, blood spurting from my brow.
Suddenly, I blacked out. An image of a wise elder
appeared, saying, "Praise God, I came out alive,
after going down the road you have yet to trod.
In unity, is the only way you can hope to survive.
Do not forget your grieving sister,
do not forget your needy brother.
There is no way you can remain whole
if you do not help each other."
The vision faded, and oh how
    I tossed and turned.
Did I miss something, was there
    something I haven't learned?
    I'm not sure...
    The dream continues....

Happy to know you liked this brotha Khasm, thank you. I am enjoying your poetry/short story series as well.
Your response was better than I could have explained this premise myself, Rich. Thank you for feeling this piece and for your support.

    watzinaname,
This is too real for comfort, scary........
Solve it in the dream stage....
We can't endure another journey of this dimension....

    Peace and Blessings
