Spike Lee's "Chi-Raq" makes its home entertainment premiere today, December 29, from Lionsgate.
The film, which is also still in theaters by the way, is now available for purchase at all Digital HD retailers and On Demand on select digital platforms such as Amazon, iTunes, Vudu, Xbox, Playstation, Google Play and MGO.
It'll become available on Blu-ray and DVD on January 26, 2016, for those who prefer hard copies.
The Amazon Studios film (the company's first feature film) was always destined for an early home video release, given Amazon's distribution model - not-so unlike what Netflix did with "Beasts of No Nation." So the fact that it's already available on home video isn't unexpected. Netflix released "Beasts of No Nation" in theaters and on its streaming platform on the same day.
Welcome to a new age of film distribution.
