inspired by Heartbeat, dedicated to the Destee House Of Poetry


...and then there is that defining moment
when the words come
and all that is felt..that wonder filled
blend of joy/pain... that mysterious
mix of angst/elation

sweet/sour
bitter/honey... that dry heat/ that
moist and tangy tongue
tingle that produces the juices
& raises the short hairs
and pushes the buttons
causes the bumps
...on all our exclamation points...

ooh yes,
that's the time when clarity
sneaks up on us and overtakes
our senses, blows our natural minds...
and the intensity is so overwhelming
and compelling
we can't control it, can't hold it
can't stop the up & down
jumping going on in our souls

it cannot be cloaked in secret
we cannot keep it to ourselves

the sacred duty of a poet
is to share light when the
words finally come

...we put the pen to paper, in
reflex response
so we can all get some

In fact I'd be hard pressed
